Undergraduate Applications
Step 1: Calculate Your APS Score
Before applying, calculate your Admission Point Score (APS) to check whether you meet the minimum entry requirements for your chosen qualification.
Step 2: Download the UJ Undergraduate Prospectus
The prospectus includes all available qualifications and admission requirements.
Please note: Information in the prospectus may change.
Step 3: Important Undergraduate Application Rules
- UJ online applications are completely free.
- Applicants may choose only two study choices.
- Study choices cannot be changed after submission.
- Grade 12 upgrading results must be included in the application.
- UJ does not accept the American GED for undergraduate admission.
- Applicants with previous tertiary studies must disclose all studies completed or attempted.
- Extended qualifications are only for applicants without previous tertiary studies.
- Some Short Learning Programmes (SLP), CEP, and NSP qualifications do not provide access to diplomas or degrees.
Disclosure of Previous Studies
All applicants who studied at another institution must declare previous studies, even if:
- The studies were incomplete
- The qualification was cancelled
- The field of study is different
- You want to transfer credits

Step 2: Important Postgraduate Application Information
- Applications are free.
- Some postgraduate programmes require pre-registration.
- Certain faculties may ask for additional documents such as:
- CV
- Motivation letter
- Research proposal
- Departmental application forms
- Applicants transferring from another university must upload:
- Academic transcript
- Degree or diploma certificates
- POPIA regulations prevent third-party application submissions.
- Documents must be uploaded in JPEG, GIF, or TIFF format and be under 512 KB.
